Nannus (latin), meaning ‘small‘, and Stoma (Greek), meaning ‘mouth’, in reference to the small mouthparts of member species. Eques, meaning ‘knight, horseman, rider’, in reference to this species’ oblique swimming angle. Pencil name come from its elongated body. This very popular aquarium fish also known as Brown Pencilfish or Diptail Pencilfish. Too bad this species rarely available in Indonesia. :(
