Small and useful plecos in highly planted tank, the Oto or also known as "Algae-scraper" make this species really famous in aquaria. Otocinclus have an air-filled sac to helps them swim high in the water column (not like other armoured catfishes which sink because they are so bony). There are more than 15 species of Oto in the world. This species is now rarely seen, possibly due to habitat loss and land-use changes in its native habitat.
